2017: Seeking a Higher Love: Loving Ourselves and Others in God’s Way

Session Description:

If God is a being whose defining essence is love (see 1 John 4:8, 16), and if we are to fulfill the measure of our creation as His sons and daughters, we also must and will become beings whose defining essence is love— which includes a divine love for ourselves and for others of both the same and opposite gender. (So, in a sense, God is radically pro same-sex love.) Learning to love as God loves, however, can be challenging, especially when we’re surrounded with the world’s ideas of what love is and what it should look and feel like. Join Ty Mansfield, past president of North Star and co-author/editor of In Quiet Desperation and Voices of Hope as he shares insights around God’s love and our capacity to develop this love.
