Session Description:

Twenty years ago, North Star began, humbly, in a living room. During that time, many people instrumental to its growth have come and gone—some by distance, some by changed life circumstances, some by death, and some by choices that took them away from a once-shared faith. In your own life, you have probably had similar experiences. How can we love others and respect their agency while also dealing with our own feelings of isolation, hurt or abandonment? How should we remember sacred experiences that are no longer shared or appreciated? How do we continue on the “straight and narrow” when some of our dearest loved ones may no longer walk that path with us? Drawing on scripture, lived experience, and the metaphor of soldiers returning from battle with “heart wounds,” this session explores how to honor grief without surrendering hope, and how to love as Christ did, without expecting anything in return.
