Session Description:
Having a child come out as gay can be shocking, overwhelming, and turn your family dynamic upside down. Spoiler: It doesn’t have to be this way! Though the learning curve can be steep and painful there is a peace that comes only from turning it all over to the Savior. Recognizing there is no one-size-fits-all approach to parenting and that the Atonement, while universal, is astoundingly personalized and individual for each of us, we can take our parenting cues from Heavenly Father and find ourselves “waiting on the Lord” on a whole new level. We’ll explore the grieving process of our old expectations, willingness to be taught, cultural challenges within and without the church, testimony, and the great privilege it is to have these precious souls entrusted to our care.
