VOICES OF HOPE
John
John Bowers is a 6th-generation Arizonan, born and raised in Mesa, whose ancestors crossed the plains in the Willie Handcart Company. John’s parents have shared their love of art and music with him. In addition to singing and printmaking, he enjoys volleyball, genealogy, gardening, reading, writing, and making movies with friends and family. John served in the Georgia Atlanta Mission, has degrees from Eastern Arizona and Brigham Young University, and currently is pursuing a graduate degree in clinical mental health counseling at the University of Utah. John knows that Christ lives and that His Gospel has been restored through the prophet, Joseph Smith. Beyond anything else, experiencing same-sex attraction has honed John’s spirit and continues to teach him to rely on the Atonement of Christ every day.
