Terryl Givens
Terryl Givens is from the American southwest, served an LDS mission in Brazil, and did his graduate work in Intellectual History (Cornell) and Comparative Literature (Ph.D. UNC Chapel Hill). He is Jabez A. Bostwick Chair of English and Professor of Literature and Religion at the University of Richmond. He is the author of several books, including two studies of the Book of Mormon, a history of preexistence in Western thought, (When Souls had Wings), and a history of Mormon culture (People of Paradox). His first volume on the history of Mormon theology, Wrestling the Angel, was published by OUP in 2014. The sequel, titled Feeding the Flock: Church and Praxis, will be out in June. He is currently at work on a history of the Pearl of Great Price and a biography of Eugene England. Terryl, and his wife Fiona, make their home on a few acres of woodland in Montpelier, Virginia.
